Pirmasens Germany

The foundation in Germany highlights in hindsight how God intervenes and sends His emissaries for new openings

W e the CCR’s landed in Germany in 1987. His Excellency, Rt. Rev. Dr. Rego, the Caritas Director in India met his counterpart Dr. Fr. Stoeffer in the Speyer diocese in Germany. He requested Bishop Rego for Indian Sisters in Speyer. In turn Bishop Rego encountered Bishop Daniel Acharuparambil in Rome and relayed the request. He in turn put forward the same request to our late Superior General, Mother Mary Angela. The circuitous journey for a German foundation found a ready response. The pioneers Srs Hortense, Ruby K.D, Teresa Joyce, Diana Marvi and Meena Correia landed at Landsthul, Germany. It was a picturesque town to live in a large, well-run Althenhein of over 200 infirm and aged folks. In 1989 the newly appointed Director of Caritas was both a patron, friend and guide to us. On November 27,2015, we were compelled to leave Landsthul due to the demolition of the Aged Home due to renovation and modernisation.
I nbetween the years of 1989 – 2015 at Landsthul was an invite from the Director of Primasens, a half an hour drive from Landsthul to replace the CSST Sisters who had been serving in Sr. Anton’s Althenhein. The then Superior General Sr. Mary Victorine wished to withdraw her Sisters due to the tough schedule and shortage of hands. We gladly accepted the offer as it would facilitate the CCR’s to move to and fro. Moreover they had a good experience of geriatric care, the Caritas code of work and fluency of the German language. Primasense was as beautiful as Landsthul. It was a serene town with a beautiful landscape. The Home was a monumental structure accommodating over 200 infirmed and aged folks. Run under the agents of Caritas it was well staffed and run efficiently.

Into this professional ambience stepped our pioneers – Sr. Daisy Vaz from Landsthul and the new comers Srs. Nathaline, Suma, Regina and Diana in September 2002. They were welcomed by the Director, Mr. Christopher Prost and accommodated in the uppermost floor of the Home.

To date their services are appreciated and their presence accepted as a blessing.
